In the summer of 2009, thirty
two international master sand sculptors from around the world create
colossal sand sculptures featuring the old architecture of Gdansk City
The work is rendered from three thousand tons of custom sand at
the Jelitkowie Beach area on the Baltic
Sea in Northern Poland. Sculpting is completed
on July 05, and the finished show is on display all summer long.
It is produced by Andrzej Stelmasiewicz
of the Gdansk Community Foundation, under
the direction of Ewa Toopolan.
The "Sultans Of Sand Worldwide" is a consortium
of over three dozen award winning international master
sand sculptors who are living and working all around the globe. They
come together occasionally, working in cooperation with the American director,
and owner of the company, Rich Varano, to create magnificent displays
in the captivating medium of professional (world class) sand sculpture.
All team members are accomplished artists in
their own right, representing the very best of the best working in
the world of modern commercial (professional) sand sculpting. Each person
also possesses other varied and sundry talents and skill sets ranging
from teaching, architecture, medicine and earth sciences, to painting,
music and other arts as well.
Sultans of Sand worldwide is glad to be associated with the Gdansk
Community Foundation, and applauds all their wonderful efforts in enriching
culture and art in the region.
