JUDGES, JUDGING and CRITERIA:
It is here stated that any complaints or concerns should be addressed
to
the director. This holds true again this year for ANY aspect
of the event.
The contest will be judged by All the contestants from the opposite Masters Division. The teams judge the solos, and the solos judge the teams. No Expressed criteria is mandated or required. The judges will rank the entire field from first to last place. Cumulative low score wins. In the event of ties, the awards money will be split.
The artists are hereby given the following criteria, outlined
below to be used as SUGGESTIONS ONLY in both helping the artists
design pieces (IF THEY SO CHOOSE) and to help them judge their decisions
on how to rank the entire field (IF THEY FEEL THEY NEED IT). Please understand
that this criteria is not mandatory to use at all.
It is simply offered as a reference guideline that the artists
MAY refer to for the purpose of helping to objectify what are sure
to be some close calls in the final placing of the top, mid and low
range. This criteria is provided as only a general suggestion of a direction
to pursue in designing and executing the sculptures, or in ranking them.
THE CRITERIA SUGGESTIONS:
(NOT mandatory to use)
Sample Questions the Artists MAY ask of themselves
as an aid to determine the rankings or to help compare the sculptures to
each other. These are also only suggestions. The artists may also put any
of the criteria suggestions (above) into this question format. Or they
may devise similar types of questions of their own:
Which sculpture is executed the best?
Which sculpture has the most original theme?
Which sculpture do you like best?
Which sculpture has strongest overall impact?
Which sculpture displays greatest craftsmanship/skill?
Which sculpture exhibits the most detail ?
Which sculpture appears to push the media to the its limit?
Which sculpture exhibits the most artistic merit?
Which sculpture expresses quality to you?
It is hoped that the artists will consider as many aspects as possible,
and include as much information as they are able to in their overall evaluations
of each sculpture.
