POSEIDON GOD OF THE SEA The first king of Athens, Cecrops, in searching for a God for the city-state of Athens, held a contest between Poseidon and Athena. Each would offer a gift of real value to Athens. Poseidon came first: he struck the earth with his trident and created a water fountain with his trident, but the water proved to be salty and not very useful for the people, so he also created the horse. Then Athena jammed her spear into the ground and planted an olive branch in the hole, thus creating the olive tree that symbolized peace and prosperity on earth. Cecrops liked Athena's gift and made her the ruler of the city, and Athens was named after her. However, Poseidon was not pleased with Cecrops' decision and cursed the city of Athens with the great problem of water shortage in Athens, which continues to this day, and Poseidon remained the God of the Seas.
Back side features Athena and the Olive tree with owl & shield.
HADES GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD The sculpture features Hades and his wife Persephone on their throne (Persephone is also Hades' niece, because she is the daughter of Zeus, who is brother to Hades). Also featured is Cerebus, Hades' three-headed dog, the guardian of the gate. The backside features the portal between earth and the Underworld that mortals traverse with Charon the ferryman, who delivers the lost souls directly to the underworld.

ZEUS GOD OF THE HEAVENS Zeus is sitting to create him in the biggest scale possible because he really is a monumental figure in Greek Mythology. The architecture behind him is a detail similar to an interior of a Greek temple The God figure is framed by two pillars symbolizing strength and stability. There are clouds around Zeus, sitting atop Mount Olympus. Beside Zeus is the eagle, which is another personification of the God. The two rocks of Mount Olympus below and on either side beneath the throne with the reliefs picturing some of the adventures of Zeus carved into them in the classic Greek style.
