My sculpture tries to represent the root feeling at the base of peace creation. It aims to be an inspiration, a call to be understanding person, to be emphatic.Peace has the shape of an angel flying high , over the divisions, looking at the humanity. This sculpture talks about Ossitocina also called :”love molecole”. This is part of the human system: feelings as emphathy, the care, good disposition in human relations, support, are based on the release of this molecole. All humans have it, all humans are able to create peace. There is no division between humans..we are all made to be able to love, forgive, to look for peace. This is what makes us not a person but a human, this capacity to be understanding, to listen deeply to other, to connect with our soul to other souls.

I graduate Master degree in sculpting in Latvia’s Art Academy. During these 14. Years I have made few personal exhibitions, also have participated in many croup exhibitions, art projects, symposiums, festivals and contests as well, in Latvia and abroad(Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, USA, Kuwait, Cabo Verde). As sculptor I’m working with very different materials – welding metal, fiberglass, Styrofoam, ice, snow, sand, wood, bronze, aluminum, stone, some combined materials and making fire sculptures. In recent years I have worked a lot with “ short time “ materials, like ice, snow, sand and fire, what has given to me very good possibility realize my ideas in monumental sizes, and also travel around the world and introduced people with my art. However one of my favorite material still is metal, welded metal, what let me turn the hardness of big objects to lightness and transparency, the same time keeping the practical resistance. One of the most popular themes in my artworks is women, their emotional differences, reactions to surrounding environment and fixing the well-known icons. Also very big influence to my creativity is coming from nature, different shapes of nature, what can be shown as straight feedback to realism, as like abstract objects.Country: Latvia So, my favorite sand sculpture is "Semigallians (Baltic tribe) family", done 2020. in Jelgava, Latvia.Statements for my sculpture:" Jerusalem is well known as the city where all together are living a lot of different cultures and religions. It has been like that in old times and also in our times. The sand sculpture scene shows old times of Jerusalem where group of Jewish men are discussing about some religious questions and the same time on street you can see young Arabic woman with kids. All this happening in old town of Jerusalem with typical architecture silhouettes in background, what still haven't changed in our times." ******************************************************************* Richard Varano - Artistic Director for Jesolo Sand EventsTEL.: (WhatsApp only) +1 407 363 7263EMAIL: sandude@aol.comWEBSITE: http://www.sultansofsand.comBorn in 1958, he grew up in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, he is the artistic director and owner of the global company "Sultans Of Sand Worldwide" He was introduced to the art of sand sculpting by his father, an amateur sand sculptor, starting in 1964. OTHER HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: Reading, writing and studying in polymath areas of interest ranging from philosophy, &history science, and particularly psychology and sociology. Director's Statement for Jesolo Sand Nativity 2022: "BALANCE" “The real problem of humanity is the following: We have paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike technology. And it is terrifically dangerous, and it is now approaching a point of crisis overall.” -Edward O. Wilson …in 1929 There are objective aspects of life and the rest of the universe as we currently know and understand it via science, that we call “facts.” But any scientist will freely admit we do not know all the facts there are to know, nor are we even remotely sure we even know the questions to ask to understand all there is to know completely. Such is the limitation of the most advanced life form we have ever known, human beings. How we currently understand science is not the same way we always understood it, so it is reasonable to think we may understand it more, and thus differently in the future; and we may regard some facts from today as false in the future, or we may (almost certainly) develop new facts, entirely.
The preeminent (and first) physicist, Sir Isaac Newton, invented the laws of gravity and the three laws of motion that define mechanics in the 17th century. He also invented calculus when he was at home in isolation during the plague to prove his theories with the mathematics that never existed before.
Three centuries later, Albert Einstein made breakthroughs in physics that changed some of those centuries old facts with his discovery relative to the spacetime continuum, general relativity, and the “spooky at a distance” as he called them, aspects of quantum entanglement in Relative Quantum Mechanics (RQM). .
Besides scientific facts, there are also subjective thoughts and ideas we currently have and hold that are born of different philosophical, religious, or political ideological viewpoints. These are known as “opinions” or matters of “faith” (something believed, but in the absence of empirical evidence).Like Newtons scientific ‘Third Law of Motion,’ which states; “For every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction,” the ancient eastern philosophy of Taoism attributed to the 5th century B.C.E. philosopher Lao Tzu who wrote the book Tao Te Ching (translates generally to The Way of Integrity in English, & “La Via Dell’Integrita” in Italian) some twelve centuries before Newton and fifteen centuries before Einstein, states the there is an ever-present force in nature that provides a symbiotic balance between polar opposites of any and everything.
So regardless of if it is science or faith/opinion, for everything we think, know or believe, there is an opposite aspect. Black/white, male/female, up/down, dry/wet, heaven/hell, peace/conflict, alive/dead, etc., with varying degrees of harmonious balance or discordant dissonance in each of all these things at any given moment.
As the ostensibly rational animals that humans are, imbued with critical thinking unlike any other animals we know of currently, we can choose to be mindful of and act accordingly, more or less on either side of anything we choose to if we choose to.
The social psychology or sociology of humanity has evolved over the past two to three hundred thousand years that homo sapiens have been around, and arguably longer into the millions of years if you consider the other hominoid life forms science says we have evolved from; and granted, some faiths believe we have been created in only a comparative handful of years. But evolved we have, both physically and spiritually/sociologically, regardless. Since the period of time in the middle of the 20th century after the second world war, the various populations and nations on the planet have statistically enjoyed less wars and armed conflicts than in all of recorded history proportionately, in spite of having an ever-growing record number of humans alive on the planet at one time.
It was not until the year +/- 1800 that there were one billion people alive on the planet at the same time. By 1939 there were an estimated two billion. The best estimates of how many people died because of WWII is between 62 and 78 million people, which was 3% of the global population at the time. Today, that number of deaths (attributed to war) is significantly lower, proportionately, and we are at +/- eight billion people currently alive on the planet earth.
But the ravages of classism and the wealth gap disparity is greater now than at any time in recorded history due to our population’s (explosive) growth due to our incredible technological advancements. So again, these aspects show the offsetting forces that provide for a point of balance between two polarities, or in fact, significant imbalances.
There is nothing to indicate these are not natural and organic actions at scale, in the big picture of the universe as we know and understand it.
However, we humans do have the ability to make choices on the individual (micro) scale that can affect us all at the larger (macro) scale, even though the general philosophical debate over determinism and the concept of free will is still ongoing. This omnipresent aspect of choosing between what we want (our self-interests) and what is best for us (our best-interests) is obviously by no means easy to choose between, or we likely would have stopped warring and started providing better health/nutrition and education for everyone long before now, and would have lived more in a state of homeostasis with nature in our environment and various ecosystems, too.
The point is, it all is a matter of awareness and perspective, and the subsequent choices we each make in each moment for better or worse for ourselves, and consequently for all of humanity, and so far, we generally tended to do this rather subconsciously.
But with mindfulness, we can be more proactive in realizing a reality whereby our social psychology can catch up more with our incredible technological advancements so that more humans may not just survive, but thrive, at scale.
…If we prioritize choosing peace and goodwill to others, as prescribed by the man we know as Jesus, and others.
~Rich Varano Artistic Director of the Jesolo Sand Nativity.November, 2022 edition, “PEACE” Jesolo, Venice, Italy

Although I live inHolland a big part of the year I am somewhere else in the world creating sculptures.Snow- and Ice sculpting became a second interest.********************************************************************************Pedro Mira TEL.: +351 964457430EMAIL: escultura.mira@gmail.comWEBSITE:website escultura.mira@gmail.com : http://www.escultorpedromira.com/Pedro was born in 1970 in Lisbon, where he studied sculpture and photography. It is said that Francis undertook this journey to agree on peace between crusaders and Muslims - then at war for theholy city of Jerusalem. 10 years after this meeting, witnessed by both Franciscan and Western scriptures and Arab-Muslim scriptures, a pacification pact for Jerusalem was concluded, one of the first historical peace agreements achieved through dialogue."Eight hundred years have passed since the meeting between Francis of Assisi and Malek al-Kamel.
