THE SUBJECT IDEAS, ASSIGNED IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE IN THE SHOW
1.) "Peace Between God and Living Beings"
by Pedro Mira (Portugal)
Sculpture #1. Located on PU#1. -Side A. From the book of Genesis"This is the sign of the covenant, which I place between you and me and every living being that is with you, for all future generations" The work intends to represent the symbols of the covenant between God and man and refers in particular to the episode taken from the book of Genesis in which Noah, after the long months spent in the ark, brings out a dove to check if the waters have receded. The dove returns with a fresh olive leaf in its beak. That is the long-awaited dream: Noah understands that the flood has ceased, the earth is finally dry, and God has made peace with men.
2.) "Jerusalem" by Agnese Rudzite Killirova (Latvia) Sculpture # 2. Located on PU#2. - Side A. Jerusalem is considered a "holy city" by Christians, Jews, and Muslims. Since ancient times, its privileged position between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea has made Jerusalem one of the most strategic places in the Middle East. Throughout its history, the city has been destroyed and rebuilt several times and, on numerous other occasions, besieged and conquered. The Wailing Wall is the only remaining relic of the second temple destroyed by the Roman army in 70 AD. , is the witness of the long and painful history of a city that still lives today in the continuous search for peace.
3.) "Jesus' Word of Peace"by Marielle Heessels (Netherlands) Sculpture #3. Located on PU #2. -Side B.From the Gospel of Luke"After these facts, the Lord designated another seventy-two and sent them two by two before him to every city and place where he was about to go. He said to them: "The harvest is abundant, but there are few workers! Pray, therefore, to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send laborers into his harvest! Go: behold, I send you like lambs in the midst of wolves; do not bring a bag, bag, or sandals and do not stop to greet anyone along the way. Whichever house you enter, first say, "Peace be with this house! If there is a child of peace, your peace will descend upon him. Otherwise, he will return to you. "The scene resumes the episode of the Gospel in which Christ sends the disciples to preach and to proclaim peace house by house. Seventy-two were the nations of the earth, according to Jewish tradition; to this multitude, Jesus sends only a pair of disciples for each city and moreover, as "lambs among wolves" a small weak, and humble army, without weapons or arrogance, yet so strong and victorious as to change the hearts of men and the course of history.
4.) "The Capture of Jesus"by Helena Bangert (Netherlands) Sculpture #4. Located on PU#3. -Side A. From the Gospel of Matthew"Then they came forward, put their hands on Jesus and arrested him. And behold, one of those who were with Jesus grabbed the sword, pulled it out, and struck the servant of the high priest, detaching his ear. Then Jesus said to him: "Put your sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will die by the sword. "Jesus is preparing to drink the cup of the Passion, and yet he does not miss the opportunity to deliver to the disciples and to all Christians the universal message of nonviolence. The first Christians knew how to oppose violence with nonviolence, and immediately the power felt threatened more by this weapon than by the sword. M.L. King says: "At the heart of nonviolence is the principle of love. Love is the only force that can be given or received without either the giver or the receiver being harmed in any way."
5.) "The meeting between Francis of Assisi and Islam" by Hanneke Supply (Belgium) and Jakub Zimacek aka Kuba Libre (Czech Republic)The sculpture portrays the historic meeting between Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt al-Malik al-Kamil in 1219. It is said that Francis undertook this journey to agree on peace between crusaders and Muslims -then at war for the holy city of Jerusalem. 10 years after this meeting, witnessed by both Franciscan and Western scriptures and Arab-Muslim scriptures, a pacification pact for Jerusalem was concluded, one of the first historical peace agreements achieved through dialogue."Eight hundred years have passed since the meeting between Francis of Assisi and Malek al-Kamel. And it is the sincere desire for dialogue that countries and institutions are called, above all, in order to guarantee the future of humanity. Peace is a right inscribed in consciences and represents the deepest aspiration of every person, as soon as he looks beyond his present", said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, last October 4 in Assisi for the celebrations of St. Francis. The historical episode was also depicted by Giotto, "Francis meets the Sultan", in the Basilica of San Francesco ad Assisi.
6.) "The Last Supper" by Susanne Ruseler (Netherlands) and David Ducharme (Canada)From the Gospel of John"I leave you peace, I give you my peace. Not as the world gives peace, I give you inner peace. Let not your heart be troubled, and do not be afraid."Jesus is seated with the disciples for the Last Supper, knowing that he must face the path of the Cross. To the disciples, he announces the gift of peace. It is the last message that Christ gives to the disciples and, therefore to all Christians; it is the legacy that Jesus left to each of us and to future generations. John Paul II, on the 2002 World Day for Peace, proclaimed in a very timely speech: "There is no peace without justice, and there is no justice without forgiveness. With God's grace, the world in which the power of evil still seems to prevail will truly be transformed into a world in which the noblest aspirations of the human heart can be fulfilled, a world in that true peace will prevail.
7.) "The Christmas Truce at Flanders" by Baldrick Buckle (Germany)The episode dates back to Christmas 1914. During the First World War, British and German troops established a spontaneous ceasefire on several front lines. Trench warfare had just begun, and these episodes of unauthorized truces were not uncommon; however, that of Christmas 1914 on the Western Front was the most significant episode of the whole conflict, both for the large number of men involved and for the high degree of participation and fraternization that developed. It is a sign that humanity will always seek peace, even at the cost of violating the duties imposed by an earthly vision that intends to resolve conflicts with belligerence.
8.) "The Prophet Isaiah, the Messenger of Peace" by Enguerrand David (Belgium) Located on PU#6. From the Gospel of Isaiah The sculpture wants to represent the peace between nations evoked by the great prophet Isaiah: "Swords will become plowshares, spears will become scythes, a nation will no longer raise its swords against another nation". These words of the prophet Isaiah, who lived 700 years before Christ and handed down to us through the centuries, are carved into a wall at the entrance of the United Nations in New York; a message that comes from a distant time and still reminds humanity that peace is "both a gift from above and the fruit of a shared commitment" (Pope Francis)
9.) "The Nativity"by Radovan Zivny (Czech Republic), Slava Borecki (Poland), Vadim Gryadov (Netherlands) Sculpture #9. Located on PU#7. From the Gospel of Luke. "An angel of the Lord presented himself to the shepherds, and the glory of the Lord enveloped them with light. They were taken by great fear, but the angel said to them: "Do not be afraid: behold, I announce to you a great joy, which will be of all the people: today, in the city of David, a Saviour is born for you, who is Christ the Lord. This is the sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." And immediately appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying:"Glory to God in the highest of heavens and on earth peace to men, whom he loves". "The birth of Jesus is accompanied by the singing of the angels who proclaim "peace on earth to men of goodwill". The sculpture represents the traditional nativity scene that, in this special edition, is placed in the rubble of a building destroyed by the brutality of war. The birth of Christ in a place of conflict and suffering is meant to be a message of hope so that peace may be restored as soon as possible in the heart of Europe and in all countries oppressed by forgotten wars.
10.) "In the Light of Peace"by Michela Ciappini (Italy) Sculpture #10. Located on PU#3. -Side B.In Bethlehem, in the grotto of the Nativity, an oil lamp has been burning perpetually for many centuries, fed by oil donated in turn by all the Christian nations of the earth, as a sign of peace and brotherhood among peoples. The Light of Peace is an international initiative launched in Austria in the 80s which consists of the lighting of a lamp from the flame of Bethlehem and the distribution of light in most European countries, which is possible with the collaboration of scout groups from all over Europe that bring the light of peace to their respective countries. Jesolo Sand Nativity has adhered to this activity for many years by hosting the light in the sculpture of the nativity; in this special edition dedicated to the theme of peace, this special work dedicated to this historic initiative has been created.

Sculpture #1 at Pu # 1 Side A. -Pedro"The Peace Dove"The flood, the dove with the olive branch, & the rainbow. Are all signs of alliance/peace Genesis 7 & 8The first sign of peace between God and manGenisis 5-7 Noah was 600 years old when he went into the boat to escape the flood, and he did everything the LORD had told him to do. His wife, his sons, and his daughters-in-law all went inside with him. 8-9 He obeyed God and took a male and a female of each kind of animal and bird into the boat with him. 10 Seven days later a flood began to cover the earth. 11-12 The water under the earth started gushing out everywhere, the sky opened like windows, and rain poured down for 40 days and nights. No bird, animal, reptile, or human was left alive anywhere on earth. 22-23 The LORD destroyed everything that breathed. Nothing was left alive except Noah and the others in the boat. 24 A hundred fifty days later, the water started going down. Noah opened a window to send out a raven, but it kept flying around until the water had dried up.8 Noah wanted to find out if the water had gone down, so he sent out a dove. 9 Deep water was still everywhere, and when the dove could not find a place to land, it flew back to the boat. Then Noah held out his hand and helped it back in.10 Seven days later Noah sent the dove out again11 It returned in the evening, holding in its beak a green leaf from an olive tree. Noah knew the water was finally going down.12 He waited seven more days before sending the dove out again, and this time it did not return._________________________________________________________________________________________________________
SCULPTURE # 2. At PU # 2. - Side A. "The Historic City of Jerusalem" -Agnese Jerusalem is a city symbolic of prayer for peace, even to this day. In this subject, the prayer of praise in Jerusalem, we note that in the name "Jerusalem," the word "shalom" is present, which in Hebrew means "peace." Prayer, playing on the name of the city, is a powerful invocation for peace Psalm 122A Song of degrees of David.1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. 2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.3 Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together:4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.______________________________________________________________________________________
SCULPTURE # 3. At PU # 2. - Side B. -Marielle "Lambs in the Midst of Wolves" Jesus' command when he sends his disciples to preach: they must enter homes and announce peace. Luke c. 10The argument for this subject: Two bringers of Peace through The Word. Two Apostles (men) talking to some people in an interior or outside setting at someone's home, as if they were lambs among wolves. [lambs often symbolize the spirit of Christ] So, two apostles in the midst of "wolves"Luke: 10:1 After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." 3. Go! I am sending you out like "lambs among wolves". 4. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals, and do not greet anyone on the road.5. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
The ultimate message of peace is the inheritance of Jesus Christ. You are responsible for the future. It is the message that Jesus entrusted to the disciples and therefore to all Christians27: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Sculpture # 4 at PU #3 Side A. -Helena"The Capture of Jesus "The argument of this sculpture scene: Disciples want to defend him with the sword, and a disciple wounds the high priest's servant by cutting off his ear. Jesus stops his disciples and heals the servant. Mathew 26:50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be?___________________________________________________________________________________________
Scene #5 is located at PU #1, Side B. -Hanneke & Kuba "The Saint and the Sultan"The idea: St. Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt, Malik Al Kamil, meet in one of the most extraordinary gestures of peace in the history of dialogue between Islam and Christianity, 803 years ago That historic conversation took place in Damietta, a few kilometers from Cairo. It was so significant that it benefits interreligious dialogue for world peace to this very day. It is not a historical fact per se`, but it is said that Francis offered to walk through fire to prove his faith.

Sculpture # 7 at PU # 5. -Baldrick"The Christmas Truce at Flanders "The historical episode of spontaneous singing of songs, camaraderie, sharing gifts, & general communion between otherwise opposing forces of WWI, in the spirit of peace through Christ, on Christmas eve, during WWI in 1914. Humanity will always seek peace, even at the front and in the trenches of war. ________________________________________________________________________________________
Scene 8. at PU # 6 "Turning Swords into Plowshares" -Enguerrand At the Blacksmith shop, swords, spears, knives, helmets, and whatever metal weapons or toys of war, become plow shares, scythes, and other useful, non-military items. The Biblical inspiration: They will break their swords… Isaiah 2:4
Other: Next to the palace of the United Nations, after 2700 years, the words of the prophet Isaiah have been repeated. Isaiah's words are eternalized It is the text that is engraved in front of the United Nations building in New York. The word that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it.3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.

Scene # 9. Located at PU # 7."The Gospel of Christmas" -Slava, Radek, & Vadim. A twist on the typical birth of Jesus scene depicted as typical, but there is also a subtle blending of the architectural elements immediately surrounding the crib, morphing into the background rubble and ravages of a city being invaded or destroyed by the war in Ukraine. But while we do want the theme of Peace to be a strong focal message and the main focus here, the nativity scene is embraced by the rubble of a city destroyed by war. A sign of hope even in the midst of devastation, the angel at the top may seem to be looking down and at the child as if blessing the savior, while behind it has a hand down towards the war aspect as in warding it off.__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Sculpture scene #10. on PU#3, side B"Light of Peace" - Michela
In the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, an oil lamp has been burning perpetually for many centuries, fueled by oil donated in turn by all the Christian nations of the earth. In December every year, from that flame, others are lit and spread throughout the planet as a symbol of peace and brotherhood among people. The tradition stems from the Christmas charity initiative "Lichts in Dunkel" - Light in the dark - of the Radio-Television ORF-Landestudio Oberoesterreich of Linz. For the first time in 1986, the ORF gave life to this “Operation Light of Peace from Bethlehem”, thinking of the Christmas tradition and as a sign of thanks for the numerous offers. Shortly before Christmas, a child, who came specially from Austria, turns on a light from the lamp in the Bethlehem Grotto, which is then taken to Linz with an Austrian airline. From Linz, with the collaboration of the Austrian Railways, the light is distributed throughout the territory. Since 1986 the Viennese Scouts have decided to collaborate in the distribution of the Light of Peace, thus putting into practice one of the key points of Scouting, the love of neighbor expressed in the daily "Good Action". Year after year, participation and enthusiasm for the delivery of the "Light of Peace" through the Scout Groups have grown more and more.
Every year, close to Christmas, Jesolo Sand Nativity hosts the delivery of the "light of the Pace" by the scout group. in front of the Nativity there is a lantern with a candle. This sculpture should have a niche in the sculpture to store the lantern and possibly LED lights inside hypothetical houses where a child was born (the light symbol of birth).

It was so significant that it benefits interreligious dialogue for world peace to this very day. It is not a historical fact per se`, but it is said that Francis offered to walk through fire to prove his faith.

Scene 8. at PU # 6 "Turning Swords into Plowshares" -Enguerrand At the Blacksmith shop, swords, spears, knives, helmets, and whatever metal weapons or toys of war, become plow shares, scythes, and other useful, non-military items.
